A week at Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest

Monday, February 09, 2015

Hello blogger friends! This week i've been away with my lovely family to Center Parcs in Whinfell Forest!

For those who don't know, Center Parcs is a short-break holiday company, which has about 5 different forest based villages across the UK. You basically rent a lodge for a week or weekend and book various activities while you're there.

For us, it was a week to unwind and relax. Between us we did a few really good activities (including paint balling, field archery, nature walks, badminton and a very relaxing spa day.)

Whinfell are also committed to the protection of the natural environment within the woodlands. One of my favourites is their protection of the Red Squirrels. Here's a little bit of information from their website;

Center Parcs Whinfell Forest village covers 400 acres of woodland dominated by Scots Pine and Norway Spruce, which provide a haven for the endangered Red Squirrel. Whinfell Forest is only one of only 16 Red Squirrel refuges that remain in England. Center Parcs employs a dedicated Red Squirrel Ranger, whose job is to ensure the well being of the Red Squirrels on the village and in the surrounding woodlands, giving them protection from the persistent threat of the non-native Grey Squirrel.

Pretty amazing, huh? (For a little more info click here and take a look.)
